Wall Display

The wall display operates like a shade that can be pulled down for use, or rolled up for storage. In the strip along the bottom, electronic circuits are provided for radio communication to the Internet for general information or for customer-specific information, or to broadcast sources for TV reception. Also speech recognition circuits are provided.

A roll-up wall display. Note the electronic components contained in the bottom strip.

Example Use by a Chef

A cook in a restaurant may use a display of this type to access instructions for preparing an item on the menu, navigating through the instructions by voice, thus keeping his or her hands free. In this case, the graphic content and the step by step instructions are stored on a server, accessed wirelessly via the Internet.

Example Use at Home

An office worker might come home and request the evening news using a command such as "NBC news". The device would be programmed to respond to a menu of such commands; in this case it would tune to the correct channel and produce video and sound.
